Georgetown Fire District

The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company was organized in May of 1928 by a group of men who realized the need for fire protection in the community. Today, the men and women of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company are just as dedicated to the preservation of life and property as those who started this organization. This past year, the Company responded to 641 emergency calls. Anyone interested in joining our Department may stop by the firehouse any Monday evening between 7-9 p.m. or call 544-8800 and leave a message.

WILTON YOUTH FOOTBALL $ 1,080

WYF has created a football program focusing on getting as many kids playing football as possible, developing fundamental football skills in a progressive manner, requiring evenly split teams, safety, fairness and healthy competition rather than winning at all costs. www.wiltonyouthfootball.org

WILTON LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL & SOFTBALL  $ 707

Little League is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in baseball and softball”. www.wiltonlittleleague.org

 JOEL BARLOW INDOOR TRACK TEAM $ 760

Joel Barlows Indoor Track Team was on the verge of shutting down when they approached the LY. Hopefully they are on their way to be recognized as a varsity sport.

WOODCOCK NATURE CENTER: $ 396

WNC is a 149 acre, privately funded preserve nestled in Wilton, CT. WNC welcomes 600+ local children each year to summer camp and nature classes. www.woodcocknaturecenter.org

CIRCLE OF CARE – WILTON, CT: $ 610

COC is a non-profit organization for families with cancer.  This local organization provides support servies on all levels for any family dealing with cancer of any kind. www.thecircleofcare.org

SHRINERS HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN: $ 1,930

WILTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY: $ 462

RIDGEFIELD BARK PARK, Ridgefield, CT: $ 3,020

well above our goal of $2000 and it has allowed the Ridgefield Parks & Recreation folks to do even more extensive drainage and updates to this dog haven in Ridgefield.

1ST BATTALION, 22ND INFANTRY REGIMENT  $ 1,100 plus van load of items collected for our troops! 

These brave soldiers based in Afghanistan are in need of basic supplies. Please bring your items to the Lumberyard Pub for distribution thruout the holiday season. If you would like to contribute money, we are raising funds to buy these guys solar showers as they have none.http://1-22infantry.org/

JOEL BARLOW PTSA,  POST PROM PARTY FOR GRADUATING CLASS OF 2011    $531

The Joel Barlow PTSA has sponsored the Post Prom Party for the past 21 years to provide a safe, chaperoned, alchohol free alternative to other activities. Money is needed to provide entertainment for over 450 students. It is a wonderful and memorable event for Joel Barlow students and the Lumberyard Pub is proud to help them raise all the funds they need.

The Tyler McLellan Foundation- Raises $2680.00 For Charity

Former Waltham resident Kevin McLellan and his wife Karin have taken a horrific tragedy and are turned it into something positive.  Their 15yr old son Tyler was killed in a “Angel Flight” plane crash inTampa in 2008.  Just days afterTyler’s death, the McLellan’s started the Tyler McLellan Foundation a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization.  The foundation is geared towards rewarding perseverance and not allowing a family’s finances to hold players back.   For more information call:  Kevin McLellan (561) 215-3717
